After the previous furniture designs and fabrications for the main living room in the apartment, a coffee table becomes an addition. As four structural concrete columns define the living room, the idea is simple: What if the new coffee table is the fifth column in the space? Can it expose the construction detail and material of the existing column?

As the initial idea develops into the functional coffee table along with details and fabrication methods, the architectural drawing acts as a decision-making tool throughout the design process. It becomes a repository of the ideas in multiple layers and scales, results in the most appropriate design, and further nurtures unexpected yet creative ideas for future projects.
