Subsequent to the previous furniture designs and fabrications for the main living area in the apartment, a coffee table is planned to be added. With the fact that four structural concrete columns define the living area, the idea is simple: What if the coffee table is fabricated fifth column in the space? Can the coffee table expose the construction details and materiality of the column?
An architectural drawing acts as a decision making tool throughout the design process as the initial idea develops into functional coffee table along with details, fabrication methods and processes. The drawing attempts to document all the design options in multiple layers and scales for the purpose of examining them to arrive at the most appropriate result, and further to provoke unexpected yet creative ideas for different future projects.
